Dr Waqaar Shah is a GP partner in London. He is also a GP appraiser and GP trainer. He is the Chair of the NICE Long COVID guideline committee, and Chair of the NICE Type 2 Diabetes guideline committee. He has chaired committees on Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration at NICE. He is an ICB Primary Care Development Clinical Director, where he works to address health inequity. Having worked in the past as an ophthalmologist for several years, Dr Shah is also the Primary Care Clinical Director for Ophthalmology at NHS London where he provides clinical leadership to the elective care recovery programme. Dr Shah focuses on improving quality and clinical outcomes for patients across the whole pathway where he has driven forward objectives to reduce unwarranted variation in care.
