Dr Shanker Vijay is London’s GP Lead for Digital Transformation (Primary Care) at NHS England (London). He is also a Digital/IT lead in North West London ICB. In his London role, he is presently involved in workstreams around Automation/AI, Pharmacy First, Online registration, Online consultations/Digital Tools and NHS App. Shanker has been a GP since 2004 and works clinically in North West London. He embraces online patient feedback and is currently rated the number 1 GP on iWantGreatCare. His management experience includes working at Board level in both Commissioning and Provider organisations. He has been involved in transformational projects, including with NHS 111 / Urgent care. Shanker enjoys early exploration and development of simple innovations for complex problems to benefit both patients and staff. He was a shortlisted finalist for an EHI Award in 2011 for the “Best Use of Social Media in Healthcare”. Nowadays Shanker tends to use those skills to assist with IT training for both patients and staff.
