Stepping into the future with AI: a practical insight into integrating AI tools into practice

Artificial intelligence is already being used across primary care, but many practices are unsure where to start or how to use it safely and effectively.

In this session, Ben provides a practical and realistic overview of how AI tools can support GP practices, particularly in areas such as administration, patient communication, and digital engagement. The focus is on everyday applications that save time and reduce pressure, without replacing human decision-making or care.

The session will explore real-world examples, address common myths and concerns, and highlight key considerations around governance, confidentiality, and staff confidence. Attendees will leave with clear, achievable ideas for introducing AI into practice in a way that feels manageable, ethical, and aligned with the realities of general practice.

  • By the end of this session, attendees will be able to identify practical and safe ways AI tools can be introduced into GP practice workflows, understand the key governance and confidentiality considerations, and feel confident taking initial, manageable steps towards integrating AI to support staff efficiency and patient communication.
