Endometriosis: what can we do differently in primary care?
Endometriosis affects approximately 10% of women of reproductive age globally, making it one of the most common gynaecological conditions. Recent evidence suggests that the average time to diagnosis is 6-7 years. Waiting lists to see specialist services are long and tertiary diagnostic and treatment centres do currently not meet the demand. Given the delays and long waiting lists, we need to find a different approach to it in primary and community care. The development of neighbourhoods offers new opportunities to earlier diagnosis and treatment.
