Driving transformation through partnerships in respiratory care

25 Feb 2026
PCN Transformation Theatre sponsored by Heidi AI
Excellence in everyday practice People, leadership and resilience Innovation that works Community and connected care

Respiratory disease remains one of the most significant health challenges in the UK, yet too many people with asthma and COPD are diagnosed late and receive uneven access to effective treatment. This session introduces the Respiratory Transformation Partnership (RTP) - a unique national collaboration bringing the NHS, major industry partners, the Office for Life Sciences, specialist organisations, innovators and patient groups together to change this.
The panel will explore how the RTP will shift respiratory care from crisis-driven to proactive, equitable support in neighbourhoods. Delegates will learn how shared governance, clinical leadership and coordinated delivery can improve earlier diagnosis, expand access to advanced therapies and ease pressure on services. The discussion will highlight what this means for primary care teams and how partnership can unlock better outcomes for every community.

  • By the end of the session, delegates will be able to:
  • • understand how earlier diagnosis and equitable access to treatment can prevent avoidable admissions and reduce variation in care
  • • explain how national and local partnerships can support more consistent respiratory pathways across primary and community settings
  • • identify practical steps to apply evidence-based models of care that reduce demand and support sustainable service delivery
